"MS64" details is a bit of a self-canceling phrase, since MS normally means mint surfaces--and not Brasso surfaces--are present.

That's not a penny, it's the missing hubcap from Barbie's Dream Car.

Quote:I thought you couldn't give grades on ebay unless graded by a company. Unless since he used "details" that part is voided. You can't put grades in the title unless it's an approved TPG. In the description, anything goes, including ms70 pariah TPG. He's roached a 22d, too. http://cgi.ebay.com/260815503529Quote: I almost have to ask myself the question...Do I report it and hope to kill the auction, or do I just let the person who is buying this coin learn a lesson? You can't report polishing, it's not a violation. However, I don't think this is allowed: Quote: Q. Do you accept other forms of payment besides PayPal? A. We also accept and prefer personal checks.

I have a problem in general with listings that use tens times the space for rules and regulations as they use to show the item.

Quote:i thought you couldn't give grades on ebay unless graded by a company. You cannot use specific numerical grades in a title(EF-45) unless slabbed by an approved TPG. However, you can use adjectival grading(Good) in a title and you can add any grade you want to the body of the auction.

So take a look at this one--who bid $20 on that? I suppose polishing a holed, common coin is almost a non-issue, but those other IHCs are more troubling. For anybody who stumbles across this thread-- any ebay seller whose coins all have the same "look"--beware, either the coins or the photos may be doctored. keywords: ebay, cleaned coins, Indian Head cents, "MS details", IHCs, darkcoiner

I really wish I could warn these bidders--I consider these auctions theft. The seller's 99.8% rating gives a false impression that all's well--until you dig deeper. Either you educate yourself--or others will do it for you.

Yeah too bad we couldn't warn the buyers. But again, lets make educated buying decisions and just avoid these to start with.

This particular seller has so much cleaned junk that he floods ebay with that I had to specifically exclude him from my saved searches because other coins weren't making it through. He is the only seller I have ever had to exclude from a search.

I would hate for this guy to start placing his coins in slabs if he thinks that coin is a MS-64 details or not. It is so far away from MS-64 his grading would be worse than SGS if he started his own basement slabbing company
