People are paying more for an ICCS graded coin vs CCCS is nothing more than naivity in my opinion. The grade slide and BLATENT mistakes made by ICCS in the last few years is obvious to any knowledgable collector. Of course dealers are going to tout ICCS because of the millions of dollars in inventory they are holding. A test was done by a member here by submitting nickel Dollars to ICCS, then comparing them to coins submitted by A Well Known large dealer......the results were astounding, but predictable in my opinion. The dealer got higher grades for inferior.....yes inferior coins. That is the way ICCS works. If people continue to take ICCS as Gospel, they are in for a shock. I have sat at Torex with dealers who will crush CCCS verbally for mistakes made in 2004, but then make excuses for ICCS about....Scott can not grade and Brian is almost blind....then in the next breath promote ICCS to the next customer.....because that is where the stock is! There was a time as I have said in this thread that ICCS was good. No longer. That brings all of the material they have graded under scrutiny to a smart collector. The ICCS pop report is a joke, the holders are a joke... Ask yourself.......why are you checking ICCS coins now with more scrutiny than before....ICCS uses a single grader, where as CCCS uses at least 2 for every coin! People are sheep....they will go where they are told until they learn for themselves.....hey wait a minute....this is not right? The dealers as well as collectors with huge amounts of ICCS flipped coins are going to defend as well as promote them.......Now ask yourself again, buy a conservative 64....or an unknown 65........But with CCCS you know what you are getting. CCCS also attempts to at least talk to any collector about any coin that they have graded.......Try that with ICCS..........Chortle....That is why ICCS still uses plastic flips.....they are not accountable in any way......all they have to do (and have) is say..."That must be a tampered holder! I did not give that coin that grade!" You have no recourse at all. Try to tamper with a CCCS hard slab....I did.....no way...... Now, please re-think your vote as to where ICCS should be in this poll.......

Buy what you like for a coin. If you want to put it in a TPG container, pick the one you like. Enjoy the hobby and your stash.

Actually, I'm enjoying the ICCS vs CCCS discussion. I don't have a ton of graded coins yet, but that is about to change. I just cant decide which TPG to use. I'm sure that there are other readers of the forum that appreciate the exchange of opinions.

I've got over 100 coins ready to send in. Also on the fence, bigtime.
ICCS - resale value for my higher end stuff will be good. Also will probably get higher grades on a few coins.
CCCS - will grade a few more varieties that ICCS wont.
which way to go...

Hi, playing around with my husband's coin collection, he no longer has the time or inclination. From Etobicoke and my most valuable coin is a 1915 $10.00 Gold Coin inherited from his Grandpa.

I have never had any coin graded by a third party. With only 7.69% of the vote giving high praise, a rating of 9 plus, I would be thinking twice before I used this company. The other factor is that there is only 39 votes.

personally I dont see why anyone would pay ANY TPG... if you are dropping $1000 on a coin shoudn't you know what it is you are buying and not trust your hard earned money to someone else's opinion? if not then I have a whole bunch of MS67s I like to sell you...

I have some coins that I sent into ICCS over 15 years ago. Is there a cut off date as what can be determined for coins that are graded correctly compared to coins graded with a less discretionary eye? Can this be figured out based on the serial # they assigned the coins?

Welcome Angel....There was no 1915 $10 Canadian gold coins minted that I am aware of. They were minted from 1912 to 1914. Maybe you got the date wrong? They are definitely one of the nicest gold coins and hard to come by in high grade.

If I am ever lucky enough to get a coin worth shipping across the country, it WILL NOT be to ICCS.
Just my 2 cents!

Quote: I have some coins that I sent into ICCS over 15 years ago. Is there a cut off date as what can be determined for coins that are graded correctly compared to coins graded with a less discretionary eye? The older embossed tags were a telltale sign of the conservative era. Other than that, I've been told that the ICCS serials will not do you much good. As usual, SPP is the voice of reason. Buy what you like and don't worry about what's on the holder too much. I've moved quite a few coins from ICCS flips to CCCS hard slabs for the sole reason of the holder being the best out there. I've reduced my potential selling price by doing so most likely, but if you can't select your storage medium based on the enjoyment you take from viewing the coins, at some point you have to ask yourself what exactly is motivating you to collect in the first place.
