Just a few months before he passed away, my grandfather gave me his entire (humble) coin collection in 2 "Lord Clinton" cigar boxes. Included in them were 2 mint rolls of Bicentennial quarters, in the orange and white "1776-1976" paper. So who do you imagine I still think about 18 years later when I see a Bicentennial quarter in my change?

My Father giving me this ^ and telling me about my 3rd Great-Grandfather... Makes me value Bicentennial coins. I want them to circulate forever. Let freedom ring.

I received a Kentucky State Quarter in change this weekend and saved it. I only save Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky from Circulaion.I got lucky today and a Cashier at Wally World let me get 25 LMC 2011 in change today. There has been about 4 varitions listed on the web.

I keep all of them that are in good shape. They do have a slight resale value to some folks. They are getting more scarce, but I doubt anything under AU is ever going to be of tremendous value.

No he was born in 1975 through 1976? That is how long those things were minted. OR he could have been born in 1776 and is still celebrating.

I have a few rolls of proof bicentennial quarters that I certainly hope are worth more than $0.25 each (coin, that is, not roll). Not a heck of a lot more, true, but people seem to be willing to pay at least $1-2 apiece for them.
I also have a half roll of 40% silver uncirculated bicentennial quarters as well as small number of some 40% silver proof ones. Those are probably worth more right now due to the crazy silver prices, but even if silver drops back down I would expect them to be more valuable than the clad varieties.
Basically, I just really love bicentennial coins. I know the standard versions aren't worth much (if anything) over face value, which is why I've concentrated on collecting the proofs and silver versions. Perhaps I'm deluding myself, but it makes me happy...

I actually included one in my collection of State Quarters since it was the only design change to the quarter before the SQs. KK

For some reason I love this coin and I find them frequently. Unfortunately not much you can do with them

These are getting increasingly common in circulation. In this area they're up to nearly 2% of the quarters in circulation which means people are spending their hoards. Most of the ones I see are still in AU condition and nicer on average than 1998 quarters.
This has been going on for ten years now but has really accelerated since 2008. It seems the recession forced a bunch into circulation and now they are being spent because they seem common.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Whenever I run across one I drop it in my coin box. They may be only worth 25ยข but at least I won't be broke.

I have a buyer that gives me 30 cents each for all I can get, and having two soda machines gets me quite a few.

I used to save them but have since stopped. It just doesn't seem worth it too me. I'd rather save all the ATB Quarters I get. I have found only 8 so far since the series started.
