That is a distinct possibility. Always use the utmost care.

I use CoinEdge holders for all of my collection, as they encapsulate the coin while allowing the rim to be viewed, even in the album. I'd guess they are about as airtight as a standard TPG slab, possibly better, due to the double seal both around the coin and around the edge of the holder. The manufacturer states that they do not seal at the edge in the larger (dollar) size holders, but I'm here to tell you that it isn't easy to pull one apart once sealed. http://www.coinsafe.com/

thats the ones I was trying to think of the name of, I like them allot better than the airtites that I use, they stack very well and gives the coin a suspended in air look to it and allows you to see the edge of the coin which is important for coins which has letters on the edge (like the new Presidential dollar will have)

those are nice holders, and they don't seem to be to expensive especaly if you order 100. Superdave do they fit inside the standard 2x2 pages or do you have to buy there pages. looking around it looks like http://www.brent-krueger.com/coined...ge%20Holders has them for cheeper but I am not sure there shipping chages they might cost more depending on that but they also have them.

I use the Whitman Classic Albums for all denominations. I use the 2x2 flips for almost all duplicates not yet in an Albums. I've been doing this for well over 50 years and maybe closer to 60. I put the Albums in a plastic freezer type bag. All coins look exactly the same as they did 50 to 60 years ago. However, they may not stay that way for the next few hundred years and if there is any problem by then, I'll let everyone know.

I get my CoinEdges from Krueger; the price is within a few cents all around and I tend to be a habitual customer of certain stores. Krueger is one of them. The CoinEdge requires its' own album pages. They're a two-piece design, snapping together on a grid between every coin. It's a very positive hold but a real annoyance to put together because there's so much to seal. Some of my Morgans are of differing reeding counts, and the only other series I collect is Bust Halfs, so everything I have lends itself to the CoinEdge design. I love them.

Nothing offers more protection than an airtite! And, believe me when I say "I have tried just about everything on the market in the last 30 years." I absolutely love the Dansco albums but even they have flaws, especially when silver coins are involved, as the little slides over a period of time can slip down letting air to the surface of the coin. Toning will take place very rapidly in that exposed area. I have NEVER had a coin change or tone in an AIRTITE so all of my "must protect and preserve" coins are housed in them!

I received my airtite albums from JP's. I'm very pleased with the way they house my silver proofs Statehood Quarters. Five per page so each page is one year. The only ones I'm missing to date are the 1999 and 2001. I just can't bring myself to pay those inflated prices. I haven't mastered the art of photographing coins yet, but I scanned a page of the album to a gif. I know the quality is poor but I hope it's viewable and you guys can appreciate the storage solution based on this picture. Image: 2000 proofs.gif90.77 KB
