a wood cutting band saw works well for that ... Gorgeous coin. Why did the ANA switch to NGC? Hmmm. Chance

Quote: Well, the verdict is in and I'm ticked! Those "graders" at PCGS called this 91/Questionable Color. It might grade at NGC but I'll tell you if you don't think their "standards" on toning are just as squirrely you haven't hung out on the NGC boards long enough to see the examples for yourself. And, I'm talking on IHCs, too, just like this one, that look perfect. If I had the time, I'd go there and pull out the threads for you.

It's funny b/c I had a 1902 MS RD IHC come back from NGC as altered color. Looked very similar to yours. Had great mint luster and cartwheel effect. I don't know what they were looking at.

Seems like ANACS is the only way to go considering all the weird stuff I've seen lately. Your coin is beautiful by the way Dave. I be very unhappy if I were you. Total rip off.

I said it would come back MS-65RD from PCGS, well... I guess they goofed. Yes, Dave, send it to ANACS, and it will still be a MS-65RD I'll bet Beautiful looking coin I can't see ant questionable color on it.

Thanks Mary! More than likely ANACS.

Looks original to me. Both NGC and PCGS are too paranoid anymore. If a coin doesn't have the exact look they wnat in their slabs, they slap it down with cleaned or color problems.

Thanks. Just got them back today. Already cracked out ;-) Would like to see your 08-S! I hear you Thad. I think they invented the Genuine service for that very reason other than it was a smart idea for true problem coins. "Hank, that coin is just too nice. Just throw it in a Genuine slab." "You got it Kevin."

I know its after the fact but what is the halo look from the chin to the eye brow? to many hits for 65 imho. Lets see what anacs says cause I have 3 that I would like to get slabbed.
DV defantly a repunched 1 top left deticle too, but I don't see anything on the 2

Welcome to the CCF. Yeah, I see what you mean about the halo. I notice this on many MS IHC's. Strike issue I believe. I would be happy with MS64RD although I personally think it may go higher. We will see.

I think it deserves 65 RD because the coin probably has barely any hits in hand; photos exaggerate flaws especially on a very small coin. PCGS and NGC should start going after fake and seriously doctored coins (and stop allowing cleaned garbage Seated Liberty dollars in problem free slabs) instead of just arbitrarily denying good material.
