Very good chart Dialog. So we should keep an eye on the US debt - or the price of gold. Then we'll know which one will move, correct?
So which one will move first?
My wife would argue that the country is in debt just to buy the gold.

no way to attribute causality through an observational graph like this with 100% certainty, but there really is no way that the country is in debt just to buy the gold. there aren't enough gold in the world for that.

I'm asking for astronomical prices on ebay though (make an offer you think is fair), and I'm not sure if i'll be violating forum policy linking to the items directly. A quick search on ebay for my ebay id (watermarked on the pictures) or the name of coins (very few if any available on ebay besides ours) should land you on the right spot.

Did the mint save those dies of that lady or did they make new ones?

DBM: Before I can afford to buy a nice macro lens or figure out how to tweak my scanner, these photos are about as good as I can get them. Still no where as nice as canada_coins's pics! And yes, I enabled that ebay feature but am still new to how it functions on the forum. Thanks for the tips. SilverBug: My wife and I've been selling off doubles of and unwanted parts of our collection on ebay for about a year now. Our listings have grown recently because our appetite grew as well and have not been keeping impulse buys in check (that and our first baby's due soon so we're preparing for the coming money pit). I hesitate to advertise on the forum because I know our prices are very high, and don't want to insult the members here by peddling them. These 2 $300 coins really are one of my favorites and among the rarest we've come across, so I thought i'd share some amateur pics. Libertad: I think the dies used on these $300 were new to the coins (is that what you are referring to?). This guess based on the fact that the size on the effigies do not match any of the standard sizes used on other circulating or NCLT coins.

I didn't realize raising a baby could be so costly:). there is a video on how the dies are made in RCM, they engrave a graphic in big size, make a inverse copy, then use a machine to scan and dup it to smaller size, the scan and duplicate takes 24 hours+. in this way, they can resize the graphic any size they want

To fit into 100k limit, the image will lose too many details...
