It's Civil-War era, so it does make me wonder even more so where it has possibly been/who in the past has used it.

Congratulations on your addition; I have one of these myself, but nowhere as nice as yours!

You did well--that's a solid F15, if not slightly higher I can read LIBERTY and see the lower headband.

I agree that it's a solid F15, maybe VF20. Closer pics would be needed.

Quote: Today I purchased this 1862 Indian Head, for $13.00. I would say you got a good price as, the coin is a good Fine.

Solid fine, no obvious problems, and much harder to find than the 63. You done OK.

You got yourself a nice coin there! The price you paid for the condition is very good. Keep on getting those Indianhead cents! What does your collection consist of now?

It's a great deal! The typical price I see at dealers for this date/grade would be $30.

Wow, then I suppose I did get a decent deal. My local coin shop sells many common dates for around a dollar, I can't remember how much it was exactly. As long as I can read the dates I'll pick up a few next time I stop by.

Tyler, that is a very nice 1862 with great eye appeal! In my neck of the woods, the 1862s are considerably harder to find than 1863s.

Nice! I agree, close to VF20. Never say never on the 1877. Decent AG examples are out there. When I started collecting years ago, I saved up for my first "biggie" and it took quite awhile but I got it ;)
