just got a 1887 morgan graded ms64/64 graded by numismatic certification institute. the date on the grading card is 1/19/88. any info on this company?

Hi Rebelman

I have owned a few Morgans graded by NCI ,, If I remember correctly when I posted pics for opinions of the grade of the coins ,,they scored about 50/50,, although for the most part I think they were considered to not be real accurate or consistent.

Begun in 1984 by James Halprin, one of the owners of Heritage, and it was located in the same building. They were active through about 1990. They used 8 different certificate varieties (Remember when they started up there were no slabs). The first five or six put the coins in flips to go with the certificates, the last two or three actually encapsulated the coin in a slab in addition to the certificate.
