More KM Refs? (Indian) | Madras 4 Pies And Temple Token

thai-vic Pillar of the Community Thailand 1509 Posts	Posted 05/28/2009 02:37 am First looks like a (copy?) temple coin (painted green at some point) reverse has East India Co, half anna, dated 1818. Second one looks like British India design on obverse dated 1825, reverse I suspect is 4 cash but the centre is well worn. Again, can anyone help with info and KM ref? The second is a 4 Pies from the Madras Presidency, British India KM# 430. There are four varieties to this coin, this appears to be the 4th with the tip of the right spray on the reverse pointing down. Report this Post to the Staff
Sap Moderator Australia 16827 Posts	Posted 05/28/2009 05:37 am The first one is indeed a "temple token". The second one is a 4 pies coin from the Madras Presidency. There are several varieties dated 1825, based on which way the top of the leaf on the righthand side of the "4" is pointing: up, down, or straight. On that basis, I'd say this one was pointing "down". KM# 431.
