Hello everyone!

I am looking at two AU58 $10 gold indian coins. The PCGS coin is $25 more than the NGC. Both look nice, but is it worth the extra $$ for PCGS?

Yes, both AU58. One is for sale $800, the other $825 (shipping included). Is it worth it or can I do better?

It doesn't really matter, although PCGS is more respected and slightly more well known. Grade the coin for yourself and make your decision based on what coin you think is nicer and has better eye appeal.

1910 and 1910D, respectively (D is the PCGS)

I would take the D mint mark. I like coins with mintmarks.

get either one, whichever you think looks better, it'll actually be a great deal either way.

I would take PCGS due to a slightly higher brand recongition as well as the Mintmark - IMO

Go for the one with the mintmark, I have a weakness for anything with a mintmark But eye appeal and number of bag marks is a big decision maker for me when looking at gold coins (or any other for that matter)

I went with the one with the mintmark. The other one looked nice, but the 1910-D had a much better photo (go with the devil you know). Thanks for the advice.

I am by no means an expert on Indian Heads, just some food for thought: Should he take into consideration the mintage figures, especially if the coin is equal or better in eye appeal. There are a substantially lower amount of 1910's than 1910-D's.

Hypothetically, if two coins are identical, the coin in the PCGS holder is worth more (and more than $25 more in this instance). You have heard the phrase I am sure "Buy the coin, not the holder" though, and I doubt that the coins are indeed identical, so you should choose which one you like better, keeping in mind that the Philly coin had a mintage of only 318,500, while the Denver coin had a mintage of 2,356,640. Is there a value difference based on these mintage figures? I don't know, but there might be.

I'd have to see the coins but the price for either is a touch high. I recently bought a 1910 $10 in PCGS MS61 for $820 after the 8% Bing Cashback. The seller has more available and it is sight-unseen purchase, but I'm happy with what I got.

I would think the lesser mintage coin would be worth more, with the exception, if the known grade is harder to find, even if it has a higher mintage...I think I would go with the lower mintage....
