When I see a token posted I usually have to go and check mine. Alas, no medal alignment. A thick planchet (scratches) and 2 thin ones (one banged up).

Unlike like my taste for women; beautiful, brilliant and have a great shape, I can be tempted by homely, low grade, rusty old coins. Better to get it, than not have that itch scratched. I was 15 years younger then, had an extra Abe Lincoln in my pocket, and said, "Why not !?". Some pleasure has been derived.

A word of caution for collectors of Canadian colonial tokens. I recently discovered two new counterfeits from the Bank of Upper Canada token series...

LC-61 Is it or isn't it ?

I started filling holes in Whitman 1 cent and 5 cent folders back in the late 50's (YIKES), then US 1 and 5 cents, then all Canadian decimal (yikes again).
Before 2000 I had exactly 0 Cdn. colonial tokens, so when I saw how many there were and how cheap you could get many of them on ebay, I lost control. I had seen this token in Charlton Millennium issue when I starting scouring ebay for coins and then tokens in 2000.

I had won a lot of lots on ebay, including Cdn. colonial tokens, many 1700's British halfpennies and forgeries when I came across this token. It fit in with what I collected and it was another Abe Lincoln cost coin so (all together now), "Why not?". I knew about the question of Canadian or not.

It didn't matter to me if it was considered Canadian or not, it was in the book so it was like a hole to fill. When I saw one posted here recently, I, of course, had to go check mine. Sure enough, legends. I also looked in the Charlton catalogue to see what was written. Yep, no legends allowed.

On the obverse of my token, I saw damage that looks like a small hammer mark, an oval with a blob in it. And then I looked at the Charlton 2020 token catalogue - Is it considered a genuine Canadian one ? Have a look in front of the king's face in the Charlton photo. It has the same oval mark, with what looks like a cross in it. Same die ? Same clash (although nothing on the reverse matches that) ?
