I don't think it is shorter. Just a little gunk in the fork of mine makes it look that way. Although I suppose it is possible a little grease settled in the end of the stem on the die, resulting in a tiny bit of a filled die.

I agree very hard coin to find I found most Large Cent Varieties but not this coin. I looked for 15+ years never had a chance to find one congratulation's to all who have one
