Sure looks like it may be a proof? Just my 1st thoughts. I have an 1871 1/2 dime PF 58 that has a very similar look. Thought I would throw it out there.

AU details due to cleaning with PL surfaces. Nice coin no matter what it grades!

Seeing those scratched up fields, that was also my first thought.

Thank you for feedback ppl, really interesting

well not mine yet so I cant bring better pics. I thought the fields looked a little pl, but so much going on in the fields
looking at prices these seem to be very cheap if mintage is 960, ngc puts a straight grade ms6 at 2000 dollars. And this would probably detail

as soon as I saw it, my first thought was impaired proof. if you can take a shot at the coins edge it could help. in any case, even it was a proof, the coin was cleaned. the entire left side of the reverse has deep scratches crossing the devices.

i dont have it inhand was thinking of buying
why are these so cheap, is it because the buisnesstrike has a mintage over 1million? NGC have regular strike ms60 at 2150 and proof at 2100

i dont own one for comparison and cannot find any photos of the edge for a proof.

i wasnt sure why you showed two edges in that photo. are these both the original coin?

after looking at your coin again and comparing the rims of both business and proof strikes, I'm leaning proof due to the width of the rim. I was hoping someone who did or had more knowledge of these would chime in. hang in there, someone may chime in and confirm it.

i think the coin rests on a reflective surface, so same coin. Leaning towards imparied proof, I think I see some diemarks (shield) consistent with the P1 proof. These sell very seldom but dont seem to be sought after

AU details, harshly cleaned. I don't think this is a proof. It is not sharply struck like a proof would be. I'm not an expert in these but proofs I have seen have a hammered obverse. You'd see her hair and drapery would be more strongly defined even as an impaired proof.

thank you Psuman, I have 0 experience with these, looks cleaned as you say but there my knowledge ends
i think I see a dot in the shield same as on P1

but hard to tell with these bad pics and no noticable premium with PR on these
