This may be a common date, but needed a suitable upgrade and this works  . An 1863 Indian cent in about XF-40 pushing 45...   NumisEd, I love seeing coins like your 1848 2.5 guilden in glorious condition  . Edited by mrwhatisit

Finally 11 days in I buy something, well 2 things.   Australian 1988 $10 Proof coin - in original box. Everyone knew about the Aussie Bicentennial 50c, $1, $10 note and new $2. Some even knew about the $5 Canberra coin, but few knew about or bought the $10 silver proof coin. This is a nice piece and quite cheap. Its 20 grams of sterling silver too. It sold only a few more than the Gold $200 proof coin! The coin shows the first three ships arriving in the Harbour with an advance party about to land at Botany Bay or Sydney Cove to plant the flag. Nice condition and great proof quality. Also this beautiful Seychelles independence set. This is the 8 coin version without the Gold coin.   I have always admired these coin and designs and probably paid more for it than I should. The 10 Rupee coin is silver and I suspect the 5 Rupee maybe too. Low mintage and nice condition (Coins still in the packet). Also came with promotional literature and someone's typed notes on the coins and their background. |

2 more thangz, I won one and the other was secret santa over on Numista.   This super shiny and beautiful 1957 Franklin half from makecents for his contest (2nd prize).   Vatican City 1932, 10 Lire silver coin showing Mother of Peace and Pius XI from an Italian member off Numista for a secret santa gift. |

Well, yesterday, I ventured out to a coin dealer and snagged several hot potatoes   , finally an 1839 head of 1840 braided hair cent for my date run 1839-1857! The only reason I couldn't find one so far until yesterday was because of the dinky mintage of only 200,000, and kinda a sleeper according to PCGS coinfacts. To me, this one grades VG-10.   But the obvious highlight was the completion of my Indian Head cents, finally found the 1909-S  in around VF-20 grade for a good price. It may have had a older, light cleaning but has a good looking wood grain appearance.   Edited by mrwhatisit

Nice additions, NumisEd, Mrwhatsit and Princetane! Princetane - I agree about that Seychelles set - I've always liked those designs. I've got loose examples of the 10c, 25c and 1 Rupee in Uncirculated but never had the whole set. I was pleased to find this 1932 South African penny in the junk bin at my LCS yesterday. A few edge knocks but not bad for 25p - and with a mintage figure of only 260,000...  |

Netherlands 5 Cents, 1887.  This is one tiny coin. Only 12.5 mm diameter, smaller than a Three Cent Silver piece. |
