They are called "woodies" and it is caused by improper copper mixture.

Sorry, I can't tell you the value. Your coin looks like it is in good shape so that will help. Maybe check with an error coin collector? Or a variety collector?

There is no marketable numismatic value for this coin - they are very common.

maybe on early lincoln cents, but not for memorials

And even the early ones do not have premium value because of the improperly mixed planchet metal. Most of the time they are sold at a discount as problem coins.
