Novodel IS not replica but it's an offical restrikes from the Russian mints. Novodel does not mean they are worthless - in some cases, can be very high so don't underestimate them. Some sneaky sellers will try to use novodels to pass off counterfeits so watch out.

Please feel free to post photos of such "novodels" or links and I can tell you better in detail.

This came is 31mm and 13g. It came in a black velvet box with a small information card (see photos below). It's described as novodel. I've fond conflicting definitions of novodel online. Wondering if anyone can shed any light on this coin in particular and on the subject as a whole...

It is indeed a novodel.

It's a looser definition of restrike but it also allows some modifications, i.e the edge may be different.

In short, it's a restrike but not necessarily a faithful restrike

Once more, look out for fakes. Real Pavel coronation roubles are worth a lot more than $20.

This guy is being nice. Most sellers aren't.

Most Soviet novodels are common. However there are some scarce and documented errors which can be worth a small premium if you can find them.
