Sorry if these questions were asked before but I am interested in old pour/loaf style silver bars (any size really). There are many for purchase on ebay but they seem to have pretty hefty premiums. Is this normal? Perhaps because they are older? I thought most people didn't like them because they were ugly

Does anyone here collect them? If so where have you purchased most of your bars? I saw several at a local coin show last week but didn't inquire about then as I was distracted by Canadian Wolves and Lunar Dragons. I wish I had so I knew how much over spot they would be asking. One dealer had a 500oz loaf style bar! Are there lots of fakes out there? I appreciate any help with this

people don't like them simply because they are easy to drill holes into and fill.

APMEX overcharges for smaller poured silver bars like Engelhards. Engelhards have a collector base that will pay over $50/oz (with spot at $35/oz) easy for the "rarer" older poured bars. I find that once you move into the larger bars, 100oz+, the collector-added value decreases dramatically. As a small time investor/collector, I would rather buy 80-90 1oz coins than a 100oz bar.

I have a bunch of old pour bars
For me I only stick to JM and Engelhard poured bars.
I have a few 10oz, 50oz bars
but my prize is a 20oz poured JM bar

Some of the bars have become collectors items besides just the value of the silver itself. Personally, I don't buy it.
