They had rolls of the Presidential dollars on Coin Vault last night. I guess this isn't surprising since banks already have them too. But they weren't selling them yet--just showing off. However, they will begin selling them Friday night at 9 EST. Unless I misunderstood, that's this Friday, not next. I guess that they won't ship until Monday morning (the 12th) and buyers won't receive them until the 15th at the earliest. Anyway, I would never advise anyone to buy from S@H, but you might want to tune in to see the coins and their selling price.

Tune in and hear: Only a limited number will be minted. Once minted, they will never again be minted. Get yours before they're gone. Buy a piece of history that will remain in your family for generations. These are beautiful coins, untouched by human hands. This is a historic event, don't miss out. They are likely to become very scarce in a short time, so get yours now, while you can. Chances are you may not see these in circulation, so get yours now while they are available. These salute George Washington, the Father of our Country. And you can have this magnificent bit of Americana for only....$_____?

Gary,
That was perfect. You don't by chance have a second job selling Oxi-clean or something like that do you?

"Only a limited number will be minted.". By definition, ALL coins are limited in mintage numbers. Sure, the limit might be 500 million, but it's still limited. No such thing as an unlimited number of coins, otherwise the Mint would still be minting them forever. I can't stand to watch HSN and Coin Vault and the others which hawk their wares, entertainment aside. Reminds me too much of downtown Saigon or Gia Dinh - "Hey GI, you buy my genuine Rolex watch?" (Or watered down booze or marijuana laced with lawn grass or ....). Or more recently, downtown Algodones, Baja del California, "Hey, Mister, my dentist [or drugstore or liquor store] cheaper than all the others." As I never tire of saying, anyone who buys this hype just proves PT Barnum, Ben Franklin, and Charles Darwin were right. Fred

tights24, Nope, I don't have a second job, but after getting my taxes figured I sure could use one. I haven't watched HSN for about a year, and I've never seen Coin Vault. When I watch such things, its for two reasons -- to look at the coins, and have a good laugh. Of course, TV isn't the only place you get that sort of hype. At least once a week an ad comes in the mail which is good for a laugh. The latest one was about the Statehood Quarters which "will never be minted again and will be nearly impossible to find in a few years!" I can't remember because its been a few days ago, but I think the ad promised all quarters minted to date, both "D" and "P" mints for "only" $40. Of course the sad thing is how many people are taken in by the hype and pay out far too much for coins they will someday discover weren't worth nearly as much as they paid.

Gary,
You really do need to do yourself a favor and watch it at some point when it is on. You will actually find yourself waiting for the next item just to see if it's a larger rip-off or not. lololol.
I must give them credit, to the unsuspecting person, they are good. I think I've only seen one or two items, including on their website, that were marked up maybe 10%. Most have been a lot more than that. I also remember hearing them quoting exact pricing that you see on the PCGS website. They didn't say it was from that site, but I was online at the time and the prices were the same as the inflated ones there....

It is an evil show In reality it is just one more Coin Show on the television that sells overpriced coins. If you watch any of these shows you will see that they handle coins with their bare hands. they drop them and they make up great tales about the coins. I spent some time watching a few of these shows during the holiday season and I did it while I had access to a computer. Each time a coin or set of coins was put up for sale - I searched it on the internet and in EVERY case. I found the coins selling for less with less postage. If you like spending money these shows will certainly help you remove it from your wallet. If you like a good laugh Watch the shows but PLEASE be careful. Remember these shows are informercials and not serious shows that answer questions about coin collecting.

Gary, I thought I heard the "Star Spangled Banner" in the back ground while reading your promotion. How did you do that? Jim

quote: What is Coin Vault?
A show on the Shop@Home network that features a couple of hucksters selling overpriced coins. The "hosts" also have other shows that sell knives and sports collectibles (probably equally overpriced )

It's sad that they can't make Coin Vault into something more like Antique Road Show wherein they discuss the history, unusual characteristics, rarity (or commonality), and condition of coins. Make it educational rather than commercial. <sigh> I guess that's not gonna happen.
