Very nice. I like colorful natural patinas. Great details and reverse type.

The obverse legend on yours does not match the legend on RIC 1191a. Yours reads "DIVA AUGUSTA FAUSTINA" I think, while the reference reads "DIVA FAVSTINA". Let me look into this a little further.

That is a nice coin and nice patina, assuming the image looks similar to the coin in hand.

Usually, those coins are bronze which is a copper alloy with other metals. Usually, tin would be one of the other metals. There are others as well. I was looking for this link to a chart where a metal analysis was made. But I can't find it now.

According to another reference, 1191 would be correct:

Quote:
RIC 1191 (Antoninus Pius), S 4654, C 258 As Obv: DIVAAVGVSTAFAVSTINA - Draped bust right.
Rev: PIETAVG Exe: SC - Altar. 150 (Rome).

But I want to check one other source to be certain.

I just checked two other sources including RIC and I believe RIC 1191 is correct. The only reason I double checked your attribution was the size of the coin. To me, I would think this size is more indicative of a Sestertius, while an As would be around 25-27mm. Anyway, I think 1191 is correct.

Yes, those coins can get very expensive. I found one for next to nothing, but then again the grade is not that great either.

Diva-Las-Vegas

I paid $5 for it on Christmas day of last year.
