My buddy found this old necklace he had, and it looks to be a mini 1903 Indian Head penny. Possible sterling eagle, anyone have any info on this?

I'd say the IHC is just a novelty replica. None were ever minted that small. If it's not that old there are ways to shrink coins with some method. I think it may involve high powered magnetism.

It looks like one of those shrunken coins. Is it much thicker than it should be?

Mercury was put their for size comparison. Yes, very much 90% silver

But no the coin is very thin. So I don't believe it was shrunk. (Can't believe thats even possible)

So my guess is it is very much a novelty piece. Cool none the less, since my buddy collects old cents and what not.

Yes, if it were shrunk, it looks like about 1/4 the area, so it would be 4 times as thick. You should repost this and tell everyone you found a giant dime.
