I just got an email from the Mint: Quote:Memo: To Royal Canadian Mint Master's Club Members Dear XXXXX, This has never happened before. We can't be sure it will ever happen again. In the coming days you will be among the first to receive a special, historic announcement. We can't even hint, except to say this special offer has been one hundred years in the making. Your golden opportunity is coming soon. Please watch your inbox for an announcement late in the day on November 28. I wonder what that "special offer" would be? A free gold coin to reward out patience would be a good start.

I don't see the word 'free' anywhere in that e-mail.

Received the same too. For some reason, think that "golden opportunity" need to understand literally. In any case, close the day, when need to refresh page of RCM website or inbox.

Key words: Happen (never happened before+ cant be sure will ever happen again) Historic (historic announcement) 100 (one hundred years) Gold (golden opportunity)
= MINT will be privatized and we will be offered a gold coin? lol...
Everybody agree "Black Friday" is not relevant to all fools' day, right? So Mint is serious?

Could it be one or more commemoratives for the 100th anniversary of the first striking of Canada's $5.00 and $10.00 gold coins? There was such a gold commemorative issued earlier this year, but at a price of over $12,000 it was certainly not a coin for the masses - the coin was made of five ounces of gold.
Seems late in the year to offer such a commemorative, but who knows?

The November 7th press release announced that issue was the last collector coins for this year. Unless, the RCM has changed it's mind, the announcement next week won't be a new coin. However, November 29th is a significant date in that is an exercise date for the Mint's Gold Exchange-Traded Receipts ('ETRs') purchase rights. A late day November 28th announcement could be related but I don't know how that could be offered to MC members. This one is a mystery for sure.

@cheney, that's not necessarily true. No emails from the mint since March 2012 apart from order confirmations.
I call and ask about this issue, uh, yeah, we are working on it.
Anybody else have a longer streak than that?

@jpaiva83 There is a section on the user profile that says, "Send me occasional email updates so I'm one of the first to hear what's new:" Earlier in the year, I was not getting e-mails so I checked that setting and it said 'No'. It had always said 'Yes' and I changed it back so that I would get the e-mails. That worked...or so I thought. For a few days, I logged in to confirmed that it stayed as 'Yes'. Problem solved right? Well I didn't get the e-mail today and I just checked my profile. It says 'No' again! WTH? Changed it back to 'Yes'. Via an e-mail to my rep in the summer, I notified the RCM about this randomly changing field. Never got a reply.

I have switched my profile from NO to YES a zillion times. It always goes back to NO. Like I said, no emails since March 2012
What is "funny" is that I also signed up for the Mint newsletter with another email address and I am always getting those emails. Just no MC emails at all.
I call the Mint, spoke to over 10 people and the answer is always the same. Either the person does not know how to fix it or the person says they will send an email to their higher ups.
I did get a call back about three weeks ago, but the basic response was, uh, yeah, we are working on it.
