My father in law found a 1920 half penny when clearing out the attic. I know that the ordinary ones are common, but this one has two Britannia sides (no head side). Is this worth getting checked out by somebody? It is in pretty bad condition. Would it be worth anything?
What they call a "magician's coin." More intricate ones might have a silver denomination on one side and a copper on the other, to perform a more impressive trick, but a two-headed or two-tailed coin has always been basic stock in trade in magic shops. The principle in magic (and confidence scams) is called a "force," creating the appearance of a random event ("Pick a card! Any card!") when the outcome is really predetermined (a deck of all queens of diamonds).
