I picked up the complete set of Vancouver 2010 Olympic Quarters today, and was very surprised to see 2008, 2009, and 2010 dated coins. I cannot think of any time were coins were minted with dates this far in advance.

For those that don't know here is an explanation of Inukshuk. The logo on the coins that looks like a stone man is one.

Inukshuk (singular), meaning "likeness of a person" in Inuktitut (the Inuit language) is a stone figure made by the Inuit. The plural is inuksuit. The Inuit make inuksuit in different forms and for different purposes: to show directions to travellers, to warn of impending danger, to mark a place of respect, or to act as helpers in the hunting of caribou. Similar stone figures were made all over the world in ancient times, but the Arctic is one of the few places where they still stand. An inukshuk can be small or large, a single rock, several rocks balanced on each other, round boulders or flat. Inuit tradition forbids the destruction of inuksuit.

It's a shame the RCM won't ship these to USA addresses.

I'll get back with you on that. I am very interested. What would be the total cost for everything and do you accept PayPal?

Just curious, that scan of the 2010 loonie looks like it has a lot of markings on it. Is that just the plastic?

It is in the plastic I believe. I will be removing them and putting them in 2X2's tomorrow so I will make sure then. With Tax the cost is $34.50 then shipping will be about $6.50, so $41.00 US will cover everything and Paypal fees.

An interesting observation was made from someone I know. God forbid, but what if the Queen dies tomorrow, would these 2008, 2009, 2010 coins carry a premium. Though in her 80's, maybe the mint was gambling on her having the same life span of her mother, then again Princess Margaret was not so blessed.

That would be even better for Canadian Mint. Then every collector would need two different sets and more money would be in goverment's pocket.

That is a good point. I am guessing we would then have some varieties on our hands.

Was there a year there were three Kings? We have three years and God knows what will happen? Queen ER II, King Charles, King William and maybe King Henry?

1936, the year of the three Kings - George V, Edward VIII and George VI.

I would be interested in a set of these Olympic coins too as the RCM will not ship to Australia either.
