In among a recent joblot I found what appears to be a common late C18th Rochdale token.

Badly worn as it is, the edge is still legible and contains a surprise. Instead of reading:
PAYABLE AT THE WORKHOUSE OF JOHN KERSHAW .x.
it states:
PAYABLE IN ANGLESEY, LONDON LIVERPOOL

It would seem as though someone was passing these off much like the Druid's Head tokens were copied.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Dalton & Hamer lists Lancashire Rochdale 141 (scarce) with that "Payable in Anglesey..." edge. Rochdale 140 is the common one with the "Kershaw" edge.
