arrived today submitted for study as this is a either a new minor variety or a sub-minor to an already identified variety the reverse crack is pie like I'm very excited to have this attributed either way, its going to PCGS as I'm confident in at least an MS62 what are your thoughts? looking forward to them thanks Edited by dsfreeworld 03/30/2013 8:38 pm

Quote: just don't know about that gouge in the obverse near the I in AMERICA not a gouge at all my friend actually just a slight surface rub the one factor that will hold it back from higher grade MS I'm sure

Sweet coin. this would look nice in my type set. Great luster! I grade this MS63 and think it may even pull a 64. please post when you get it back.

MS63 maybe a 64 is warranted (Hope so for you DSfreeworld)!

Very nice coin, reverse is awesome. This is die cracks above the head and near lower and upper edge of reverse?

Thusday, thanks for the kind words. There is are existing varieties, F-111 and F-112, that exhibit die cracks through liberty's head on the obverse running into OF AMERICA. This coin shares those attributes although the cracks occur at different entry and exit points. On the reverse, you can follow the die crack around almost the entire circumference of the coin. DBL Click my image to get a larger view. Also, its much easier under 1200x magnification with coin in-hand! I posted an ANACS AU58 1888 a few weeks back that is also being studied by the leading expert as a new variety. That coin has a wicked die crack through (OF) (AMER)ICA without any signs of a die crack through Liberty's head or coming from STAT(ES). That AU58 is an exciting find. https://goccf.com/t/143893&SearchTerms=1888
