The 'Dealers' topic on the forum reminded me of my coin capsules order that I placed recently.
Anyhow, coin capsules are kind of tough to find on sale from an online website that ships to Canada. I have purchased some in the past from J&M when they had a sale... so I am wondering: do any of you purchase coin capsules from online dealers? How much do you pay per capsule/10pack? Which websites are known to have decent prices (or sales) for the capsules?
Thanks for any input. (My first forum topic creation! lol)
Edit: oh dang, this is probably not the right place to post this. If it helps, to stay on topic, I plan on putting NCLT coins in the capsules! :) Edited by aswitzer 04/04/2013 4:44 pm

I have placed a few orders with Colonial Acres over the past year, I like their site for sure. I think I have only seen one sale on the capsules from them over that time.

I think, the prices are similar.
I ordered from CA and CC&A Lighthouse 38-39-40mm capsules and they cost near CAD 4 per pack of 10 units.
Also ordered "X36" (if remember correctly for 1.5oz Polar Bear) Air tites from airtites.com - they ship to Canada. I think, that paid near CAD 10.00 for 3 capsules with shipping. In future will order some H and I (for Canada Silver dollars) size from airtite.com

I've been using air-tites.com...they have capsules for many different sized coins. Prices vary by coin size.

I've ordered capsules from Colonial Acres. Never on their own, always as part of a bigger order. I don't want to pay $8 shipping on a $5 10-pack of capsules! I've ordered capsules before from an American ebay seller, can't remember the name. The shipping was reasonable, I just ordered enough to make it worthwhile.

Just checked out air-tites... I remember looking at that site once during my hunts. They have good prices per 100 capsules for the KoinTain capsules... but I have never used them or seen them, so I am hesitant to order those.
And yea thehulk, I usually try to order larger quantities of capsules. The first time I ordered 10-15 packs, and this time I was going to get 300 capsules. Helps to offset shipping, especially if the capsules are on sale too.

The best way to get capsules on line is through a coin dealer, rather than a supplier of numismatic accessories. That introduces a problem, because a coin dealer would only have capsules for sale as a sideline, and most probably would not advetise them. Such capsules are usually recovered from broken encapsulated proof sets. I use British Royal Mint screw capsules, rather than Stanley Gibbons press close type. I have no problem getting any capsule in any size and in any any number that I want. However they have all come from a coin dealer, at the premises. You need to do a 'phone around to various dealers that may have capsules that have been recovered from broken proof sets. I would expect that a dealer who is a selling agent for Royal Mint products would be your best bet. That would mean in the case of Canada to make contact with some of that Country's leading coin dealers. Negotiating, with payment by money order or on line account of some form or another, is the way to proceed after that. I am not familiar with how the RCM encapsulates IT'S coins, but if they are the same as the Royal Australian Mint, such capsules are useless, because the capsule has to be destroyed to remove the coin.

Kointainers - that is where it is at. I placed my Indian Head cents in Kointainers, then put them in to 2x2 flips. I don't have to worry about staples, I can label the 2x2, put them in a binder, etc. I got mine in a bag of 100 from Wizard Coin Supply. Nuff said!!

I purchase my air-tites from JP's corner. Their prices are better than air-tites.com. Both sites offer low shipping to Canada.
I'm actually looking for coin capsules that are like the RCM ones. I asked in another thread and Sel gave me some great advice. But if anyone knows any brand that is similar please let me know :)
