I just got this message from someone on ebay. I'm not familiar with this seller, anybody know who put the bee in his bonnet? Quote:Severe legal issue Hi Just to let you know the 2013 Murano Glass coin is schedule for advertizing in April. You are a minimum of 3 weeks to early. The mint does not allow advertizing or sale of there products before the scheduled date. This matter is currently with the legal department of the mint. ebay will be forced to terminated all listings with possible consequences to sellers. - angus_coin_shop

great! I hope every single person who did it gets what he\she deserves! The RCM is crown owned, it belongs to all Canadians and all this shady practices to make profit not only harms all of us as taxpayers but also ruins the joy of coin collecting.

Dooby Rak, I think angus coin shop just trying to scare you off. I don't see any legal leverage Mint can use.

I really don't know what recourse the Mint would have. Many of the people selling have no legal agreement with the mint with regards to the resale of items. There fore they can buy and sell product as they wish for what ever price they wish when ever they want. The only thing that can be done is to remove the auctions for copyright infringement. The Mint couldn't even take legal action on these seller since to even begin a law suit would cost in the thousands of dollars. Even a legal letter such as a cease and desist order would cost them hundreds of dollars to send. The real problem here is not the current sellers on ebay, but the actions of the post office. I suggest you may want to redirect your anger at that failing crown corporation for trying to boost its sales by selling coins. It is their presales and catalog image that have caused this mess. P.S. there is no rule on ebay that you can not presell an item.

I see there are 22 active listings now on ebay for the Glass Butterfly. There is also one listing for the Quarter version which has a realistic looking butterfly image. Angus Coin Shop should run their warning letter through their proof reading department before they send it out.

It seems to me that the Mint's policies and marketing actually encourage flipping and presales.
If they don't like it they could take away the seller's membership status.

Near impossible for the Mint to actually know who ebay sellers are. ebay has no reason to release seller IDs, the sellers have not broken any law by flipping or preselling. It would be near impossible to track down all MC members guilt of this.

How would the mint know who is selling them? I have already purchased some and have order number to prove it so why can I not sell something that technically is already mine. Not my fault they sold them early

Angus sent me a new message: Quote:You cannot pre sell an item that is not available. I'm a legit business, I play by the rules. I cant chance my lively hood. Doesn't matter, ebay knows about the issue, if you want to chance it go ahead. If it works out for you, then I'm happy for you. - angus_coin_shop I think you can not presell an item that does not exist. But the butterfly is available to the public otherwise a Elk said I would not have been able to order it and would not have been able to obtain an order number.

Angus is legit business scamming people: they sell bullion moose as some "majestic moose 2012" in their DIY set (which is coincidentally very similar to 2004 Majestic Moose set)

And from ebay perspective, why would they care and punish people who bring money to them as soon as both buyer and seller are happy with transaction?

I think RockDaddy knows of this guy, IIRC he runs a business out of his house. Sounds like sour grapes more than anything.

All they have to do is join ebay's VeRO program and they will basically have the item removal/seller information button at their fingertips. Big names (Louis Vuitton, Prada, NFL, MLB, etc..) have had that luxury for years. It's relatively simple for them to shut you down and prosecute if they have the desire. ebay will oblige them 100%, it's very simple for them to do. Oh, and all they have to do is buy one and they have all your information. Duh.
