I know it sounds very cynical, but anyone who believes that anyone is going to sell them gold for $100 under spot, deserves what they get.
Gold is what it is, it costs what it costs. Bargain hunting for premiums is one thing, if you are bargain hunting for below spot you can't afford it in the first place and you are going to get cheated.

Scary stuff, kinda ironic the detective's name is 'Troy'. Hopefully the prosecutor understands the bullion market and throws the book at this guy.

If someone offered you $20 bills for $15, you'd probably be suspicious.

I get silver for less than spot all the time, due to the much higher smelting fees/ounce compared to gold. Getting gold for less than spot is impossible without getting into the scrap business, which is another topic altogether.

I saw this on the news, this guy was good at what he did. I don't understand how people can take advantage of others like this and are able to sleep at night. People like him should be doing heavy time, big fines, houses/cars etc. taken, but no, in our system, he'll probably get a slap on the wrist and back in business somewhere else. The victims will lose big time, as always. Very sad for those who got duped....lessons learned.
Thanks for posting for those who didn't see it.

A guy in Calgary was trying to sell these bars last week on kijiji. I set up a listing above his warning people about, he took it down pretty quick after that.
