I have known that it maybe in the set from looking thur plastic, but was not sure until I open plastic. Southern Yankee Pillar of the Community United States 891 Posts	Posted 05/20/2007 09:44 am This looks more like Mechanical Doubling to me. The variety you listed states doubling on all the reverse lettering. Can you post pics of some of the other lettering. Report this Post to the Staff

coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 05/21/2007 12:17 am Not only that but a class II+VI doubled die would have extra thickness and separation toward the rim of the coin, not clockwise or counterclockwise. That would be a class I or class V doubled die, either rotated hub or pivoted hub doubling. Amac44 - I night suggest a book that explains the classes of hub doubling and how to tell hub doubling from Machine Doubling. It might help clear up some of the mystery for you. One book that comes to mind is "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change" by Brian Allen and Ken Potter. Pages 20-29 could prove to be valuable reading for you. Report this Post to the Staff

The die is listed there as class II+VI...not as a class IV. We are not both right, your coin is not a doubled die. Report this Post to the Staff
