Is Merit the name of the company, or are you asking whether some other company (which you forgot to mention) has any merit to it?
Rest in Peace

I've never ordered from them personally, but they do have low-ball prices. However, it's not hard to find stories of lengthy shipping delays. I talked with
them on the phone a couple times and they told me they didn't have the items I wanted (nothing fancy--just ASEs and CSMs) in stock and that there'd
be a 2-week delay (beyond processing/check-clearing time) because of that. I didn't like that answer, so I placed my order with Provident and I've been
fine with them since. Their prices are the same or only a little bit higher and they've never hit me with any over-the-top shipping delays.

Before buying from any vendor, be sure to read their FAQ regarding payment processing and shipping lead times. I can't say for this vendor, but some low price dealers may wait several months to ship your purchase. Make sure you are comfortable with ALL of the dealer's terms of purchase before buying.

APMEX has some fairly reasonably priced items, but their reputation is definitely NOT for being low-priced. Their shipping time frames are pretty standard
and long delays aren't common with them. There will be the (+/-) 7-day delay if you pay by check/bank check/USPS MO, but if you pay by credit card
(subject to 3% price surcharge), their shipping time is about as good as you can expect.

The advice to fully read all vendor website info about payment terms, processing time frames and shipping time frames is good advice. In addition to that,
also call their 800 tel# and go over all your questions with vendor phone reps. They're usually very helpful.

If I had to make one generalization though, my experience has been that the really low-ball prices generally do come coupled with longer shipping delays.

I have not ordered from them. They do have a great price on the ASE's though.

I have read (on another forum) that this low price is a teaser, then the reps call & e-mail quite a bit trying to sell more.

APMEX has impeccable customer service but you do pay for the experience. I had exactly one instance where I needed to return a fairly expensive purchase for exchange. They couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Their payment processing is quite reasonable depending upon method and their shipping turn around is usually within a couple of days. Actual delivery times depends on where you live in relation to Oklahoma City, OK.

Assuming they have what you want in stock, Provident Metals has very fast payment processing for credit card and postal money order payments. Postal money orders aren't typically held until they clear like cashier's or personal check. Shipping is typically quick and charges are fairly reasonable, too.

Goldmart is another large dealer that had some customer service problems when the company relocated from California to Nevada. I'll leave it to some other forum members to comment on current quality of service. However, when I've used them in the past, Goldmart often has excellent pricing on the most popular bullion coins and fairly quick payment and shipping.
