1975 Error Penny? - Coin Community Forum

DMR2 New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 07/27/2013 9:48 pm I am new on here... I'm assuming this is a 1975 coin. I am looking for any info and anyone else has seen one of these before. Notice the last digit in the date and also the rim around the coin is odd looking.I wasn't sure if these are worth anything or not. * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

Jayman931 Pillar of the Community United States 2651 Posts	Posted 07/27/2013 10:32 pm To the Forum! The 5 was hit by a Coin Rolling Machine. As far as the cent not being struck on center. Its either a MAD (Mis-Aligned Die) Or an Off Center Strike. If the back of the coin is perfectly centered than its a MAD. If the back of the coin is also off center then it is an Off Center Strike. I don't believe yours is Off Center enough or Mis-Aligned enough to be worth more than its weight in copper. The devices have to be affected for the coin to demand a premium. Happy Hunting. I do plan to keep it. @ Jayman931, what do you mean the date was hit by a coin rolling machine? I thought the dates were made by the die. Please forgive my ignorance, I'm learning.
