CCF's Bad Word Filter ensures that I cannot express any opinion whatsoever regarding this seller. So, I won't try.

SGS just gets lazier and lazier. They dont even try and make it like it could be a realistic grade anymore it seems. I hope those 11 offers have all been in a single digit price range

I was hoping it may have been listed by someone who has no idea... as the id name implies maybe its a gift shop or an antique store... no luck... the description claims they specialize in coins. Yikes.
Rest in Peace

I'd hate to have even a 1c offer accepted because that would mean with shipping I would be into these coins for almost $5-AGH

I wonder if SGS stands for Steves Gift Shop.

Basement graders are worse than drug dealers selling to kids.

11 offers as of right now.

I encourage everyone that reads this post to submit an offer of $1 with a "friendly message" to the seller and lets see how high we can get that count up to.

EDIT: the seller must know what people think of his product and has an automatic decline offer set for $1 but I left my message so hopefully he gets a clue someday.

The only coin I have ever seen "graded" by SGS that didn't have a numerical grade of 70 was a PF-69 with a hole through Lincoln's head. I guess that minor blemish was worth a point on their scale.

Knowing how SGS slabs coins, the only error I notice is they forgot to label it MS 70-RED.

I messaged the seller and asked why the pictures showed coins that were at best MS62. Here's the reply:

Lol so that reply just confirms hes an unsavory character that knows exactly what hes doing.

This guy is a complete joke check out his other listings. He has a TON of SGS graded coins and its basically the only service he uses. He probably actually sends coins into them with how many he has. Theres even a whole page of SGS graded Morgans and Peace dollars that he wants thousands of dollars for.

I thought he was SGS. The initials match, they seem equally businesslike...

I sent him a message asking if he submits them or if they are purchased already graded, and if his company guarantees the coin's grade when they sell it. I also asked him about that nasty spotting on that 1943-S. Time shall tell if he replies, and if so, in what manner.

I wonder if it was the same set or if they just recycle fake cert numbers (if they are even the same ones from the current auction)

I am still amazed that ebay changed their rules several months ago allowing only PCGS and NGC (well I guess lobbyist money talks just like in Washington) regarding listing grades in action titles but hey allow these peddlers to continue.

I guess it's all about the bottom dollar profit and the slush fund lobbyist bonuses for ebay in the past 8 years.

I remember 13 years ago when ebay was honest and 5 years ago when Craigslist was honest.

There isn't a validation link on the SGS web site so I think that the actual number is irrelevant. I'd be shocked if you sent them a number and they actually responded with information about that particular coin.

BTW, the seller is a real whacko. If you go to his web site, there's a link to his other site as a business development consultant. It's quite entertaining. The entire site screams "hire me and I will kill your business".
