The 1944 cent in MS65R is perceived as a grade rarity, and priced accordingly. Its Trends price is $2000,the next priciest Geo VI cent is 1942 at $600. The asyn coin is neither MS65 nor red.

This guy is now going past the point of comic relief for most of us here. ..
.....but he is also hurting the hobby in a big way...

If the coin actually was what the seller claims then a Grade of MS65 in red condition it would probably be rare in the population of 1944 cents. This coin is more of a Brown/Red condition and certainly is NOT an MS65.

Here are a few nice MS Red cents...the 44 is also a nice Cameo. The top pic shows an interesting flaw in the C of Canada with that wire like mark that must have been in the die at the moment it was struck. This is what a collector would expect to see when advertized in MS Red grades... .. . . . .

That would be fine, but:
1. Its asyn 2. Its an auction
If that coin were certified, it wouldn't be worth the cost to send it in.

Asyn is a genius lol! People will actually bid on this coin! I wish I had half the balls this guy has to list his auction they way he does.

Would something like this qualify for ebay protection as not arrived as described? I know he has a disclaimer on grading, but I've always wondered about the term "Rare" as it seems to be applied quite liberally to all sorts of coins (eg. Rare 1967 PL set).

Well.. if the item is received as pictured, there isn't much you can expect, especially since they say that the grades are in their opinion only. The word rare is used so loosely now that it hardly means anything to most people.

Someone should do research on ASYN and write a book on this seller(s). Whoever this person or Organization is, they are E-bay's oldest seller (1998) and have near 1/2 million in sales. (shooting red STAR) I've made one purchase from ASYN, a raw 1951 MS-64 silver dollar. Returned back from I.C.C.S. as MS-64. What can I say? Glenn

Some of my hardest-to-find Nova Scotia Trade dollars came from ASYN.... you bid, and buy, on what you see, not what you read...
