1970 S Nickels - Coin Community Forum

thingee Pillar of the Community United States 2177 Posts	Posted 06/10/2007 7:15 pm I have a bunch of 1970 S nickels that I will be going through and then putting back into circulation. BRUCE 1947 Pillar of the Community United States 834 Posts	Posted 06/10/2007 8:37 pm Thingee. There is not a lot going on with the 70-S in mint state, proofs yes but not business strike coins. The hard part with the 70-S is trying to find coins that look good without marks if I were you I would save the coins with the best appearance, and there are some with 5 full steps. Everything was discovered at one time or another, just looking for a specific list of stuff is limiting yourself from the possibility of finding something yet unknown. Report this Post to the Staff

If the nickel looks like the ones you spend, it's business strike. If the nickel has deep, polished mirror fields with frosty letters and other devices, it's proof. The difference is obvious in hand.
