That coin is not an example of 1955P-1DO-003, and doesn't appear to be a doubled die at all.

Kind of looks like a poor man's double die with some shadowing of the last 5 in 1955, but what is going on with the S in trust and the vertical line in liberty? Jim

My thought also was this is a poor man's double die because you can see a faint shadow on the second 5.

I had no idea that if you squished all the letters it became a DD.

a poor mans double die is something that someone that needed a buck came up with to sale his coins and nothing more. and poking the lion wont get you answers. Gary too

Amac, I think he is referring to coppercoins as the lion. And, sorry, but I have been looking at a number of 55 DDOs recently as I am about to buy one and your example is not one. When you hold one in your hand, you do not need any magnification to see it, it reaches out and grabs you by the nose. You almost think you have gone cross-eyed. Jim

yes I was speaking of CC. it seems to me that every time he says something that don't meet what you want it to you question it which in itself is not a bad thing but I have seen some of the questions get down right mean and I don't think that he or anyone else is here to be the #1 or go to guy but if you don't like the answer don't ask the question Gary too

I am not trying to start a posting war! But the picture I posted are the marker's for the 55p1DO-003 that are posted at the copper-coins site. I left 1 picture out and he didn't not seem notice it or know anything about coin at his site? I know I would know or read before I made a remark! But it just seem like if I post something CC has something bad to say about all my post I don't know way he has to be so disrespectful to to me I have not said anything til NOW! I have very little respect for what he post about any post not just mine and I think most of the form feels the same.

I guess you are entitled to your opinion. but here is mine. CC has probably forgotten more about cents than you or I will ever know !. and I do respect that. I also am not trying to get into a posting war and the only reason I said anything was that on every one of your post's that has gotten an answer from CC that you liked you agreed with him and most of the coins that you have asked questions about he has given you the correct answer or I should put it like this. I have been reading his books and his web site for awhile now and have yet to see something in writing that was not correct and I can give you name's of a few HUNDRED yes 100's of guy's and lady's that would agree with me. this is the last I will respond to this thread. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE ANWSER DONT ASK THE QESTION

Quote: I have very little respect for what he post about any post not just mine and I think most of the form feels the same. CC may be blunt and to the point but he is all business and he is one of the premier Lincoln Cent specialists in the country. His knowledge base commands respect and like garylcsr said, he has forgotten more about the series than most people learn in a lifetime. I imagine that the vast majority of the forum is glad to have an expert of his caliber frequenting our little corner of cyberspace.

CC, can you please clarify what a 1955p-1DO-003 is for the rest of us novice collectors. I just checked out your website and it states a 1955p-1DO-003 has:
"Moderate extra thickness shows in the date, WE TRUST, and LIBERTY"
There are parts that do seem a little thick....Maybe with a little clarification, this post will calm down a bit.....
Thanks, Tim

Sorry Amac, but I don't think your coin looks anything like coppercoins pictures on his site. Lots of things stick out to me. The "S" and "T" in trust aren't the same. Liberty doesn't look the same either. The only thing close is "WE". Just my thoughts.
As for the rest, if you're not satisfied with his answers or feel some ill will towards you, simply PM him and make sure there's not something you did to annoy him. Posting here to make a point and/or embarrass will not get you anywhere. Just my thoughts. I will always "back down" and bite my tongue until I know for sure things are being directed at me fully. From there it's a different story, but still better taken care of offline. You are both Pillars here and I enjoy the posts. No point in letting something like this go public OR fester.

tights24, I guess your right. I was not trying to stir the pot or anything, I was just trying to see where the difference in opinion was. I always value CC's post myself and I know amac44 has a good eye for errors as well.
Peace out... Tim
