let's see how long it takes us to spend $100K in new $100 bills. Just put what you spent it on and please post the persons reaction you are giving it to (that is arguably the best part ) Then post the remaining amount left until we get to our goal. let's see how long this takes!

Lol. My bank, to my current knowledge, still doesn't have them.

I've gone through about 35 of them so far but it has just been giving them to another bank when I pick up my boxes of halves.

$99,800. I got two from my bank when I cashed my paycheck. Rent. The landlord commented about how they were the first new $100's he'd seen and they were kind of "different". tbh I wasn't trying to find them and spend them but randomly got a few and spent em, but I figure it's still a start.

$99,700. I spent one at a local gas station. The attendant didn't even flinch just held it up to light to see the strip through it. Asked if I could break a $100 with him and was "Oh yeah, no problem."

Do we have to make sure we also spend all of the "change" we get from the new $100 bill, if we just "break" the bill and not spend all of it at once for it to count? Or do we have to spend all of it for it to count? If the U.S. reissues the $500 bill, and issues a $200 bill in the near future, I'm going to do "Project $200K- circulating NEW $200 bills" and "Project $500K- circulating NEW $500 bills" So, who's with me on that one? Or should I say, who's with me on "those two"?

I'd say we hafta buy something with it, but getting change is ok. I bought $20 of gas since it was cheaper by paying in cash. That's my vote on it.
I'd be very shocked to see the re-issuance of the $500 note. They have demonized the possession of large notes so much that it would surprise me if it passes Congress and gets signed into law. What would not surprise me is if they "persuade" the EU to discontinue the 500 Euro note.

Nothing has to pass in Congress. The Secretary of the Treasury, according to cuttent law, still has the authority to order print runs of $500, $1,000 $5,000 and $10,000 notes if he chooses to do so, and the Federal Reserve is still authorized to order these four large denominations, and if the Fed did order a print run of them, the Secretary of the Treasury would have to fill those orders by law. However, it has been stated that the Secretary of the Treasury would probably consult Congress before reissuing the $500 bill or any of the larger denominations. At least, this is what I have read for many years. The only two denominations I propose that would have to be authorized by Congress is the $200 and $2,000 notes as these denominations have never been authirized to be printed by the U.S. Treasury, although the $200 bill should be authorized if they do reissue $500 bills, and the $2,000 bill should be authorized if they ever decide to reissue denominations beyond the $1,000 bill.

It does count if you spend them in change.

I have yet to see one. I cashed out at the casino yesterday thinking I might score one, but got three 2006A's instead.

does turning one into the bank count? I got one in late October from the bank and put it back a few weeks later(wanted to see if I got a cool serial number, but didn't)
