Besdies State Quarters, every year I take out of circulation two bright and shiny examples of P and D pennies, nickels and dimes. One set goes into Whitman folders and the others I put into plastic 2x2s for future generations to marvel at some day. Here it is July and I still haven't seen a 2007 nickel. I don't even know what they look like. Is it still the forward-facing Jefferson? I thought I heard they might change it. Anybody else having trouble getting them? Jan

I just received my first Jefferson nickle about a week ago. Like yourself, I usually find one much earlier in the year. To answer your question, the foward facing Jefferson is on the 2007.

I've found a couple P's already up here in Toronto, and got my D's in Los Angeles last week.

I haven't seen anything from 2007 yet. On the other hand, I don't use cash that often, but I have seen 2007 Canadian cents already somehow.

Yesterday I got in change a 2007D nickel and today I got the 2007P. Usually we don't see P mints around here. LeAnn

I got some rolls (nickels) from the bank the other day and two of them were 2007P 1/3 of which were weak strikes (no steps), 1/3 all die cracked up and the other 1/3 just kind of ugly. I have seen a lot of 2007 pennies but being 2 minutes from the mint I guess this is where they first start to show up.

I always try to break bills to get change everywhere I go. This is the first year I can remember going this far into the year and nothing in the way of 2007 coins. Where the heck are they all going? I've even asked at a few banks and they tell me if you buy rolls, what you see is what you get and so far nothing in the way of 2007's. Maybe the stupid date on the lastest Red Book confused the Mint and they are tooling up for 2008.

I have found tons of 2007 nickels. I do work at a bank though so I see a lot of coins come in. The 2007 nickels look just like the 2006. I do mainly collect nickels though so I do tend to go threw rolls and rolls just to see whats there.

Haven't experienced this myself, While I haven't seen anything in circulation from Philadelphia, I have found the following 2007s in my change:
3 2007-D George Washington Dollars 17 2007-D Dimes 9 2007-D Nickels and 35 2007-D Pennys

No sympathy here. Here it is July of 2007 and the grand TOTAL of post 2002 nickels I have seen is 5, two 2003 P, 2 2004 P Keelboats, and 1 2005 Ocean in view. For some reason the 1997's never came this way either. After ten years I've accumutaled a total of 14 specimens, 7 from each mint. Everything else from 1998 to 2002 is easy to get but few 97's and almost nothing after 2002. As a general rule the State Quarters lag about four issues behind getting here as well. We have only seen a couple of pieces from Kansas and later.

Maybe this has to do with the cost of the metal and increased cost of making the five cent piece? Last I read it costs almost ten cents to make a nickel.
