It might be a Roman Republican denarius something like this . . . or with this same basic design:

Looking at your coin there's a chance that it is a fouree.

I agree it's Roman Republic, but without any name it's going to be difficult to find unless you go through every Gens.

I think Ben might be right on this one, looked more like a horse than goat to me but because of the wear it can very well be a goat.

If that's what it is a design similar to this was also used on an antoninianus of Valerian II. There it is the infant Jupiter on the goat Amalthea:

You could probably pick up a reasonable example of this denarius for $100 - $200. In mint condition however you could pay as much as $800. Unfortunately this peice is badly worn and probably worth no more than about $5.
