I found this coin in a dresser at a house. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. about 1/2 inch diameter.

looks like a "widows mite", like in the Bible.

Looks genuine to me, but beware: because of their historical importance, and the fact that genuine examples can be had for less than $30, these coins happen to be one of the most faked of ancient coins, to be sold to tourists for a price that can be considered by them to be very reasonable.

I am NOT an expert on the authentication of these, although I have seen quite a few of them. A little knowledge can be dangerous.

Yep, it's a "widows mite". More properly, a lepton of ancient Judaea, issued in the name of king Alexander Jannaeus (105-76 BC). Compare with examples on this Wildwinds page.

If it's fake, it's certainly a better quality fake than normal. I'd happily class it as genuine.
