I thought I'd buy a buffalo from someone on CCF and support them. Well his/her pictures made the coin look Fine right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-D-Buff...p=true&rt=nc

I was too worried about the date that I completely ignored the horn.

(Started my Buffalo nickel set over. I only want full dates and no acid ones)

____________________________

Got the buffalo today, I opened it hoping I got a nice full date, when I saw the date I was like . Turned it over

I only grade it VG. It's only Fine unless you hold it under-light or turn it side ways and stuff.

So is this really a Fine condition Buffalo nickel?
I'm not mad at the seller, just need your help.

F details, PVC damage.

EDIT: For $42, I'd be sending it back.

IMHO, it's a borderline coin ... VG-10/11. I prefer a 2/3rds horn ... more bang for the buck.

VG-08.. A soak in acetone may help with the residue on the coin.

This is a VG details coin. Maybe worth $20 if cleaned up. Very unappealing to the eye.

Like ExoGuy said, looking for 2/3 of horn for the Fine grade, also a bold date is needed for Fine. From your pictures, I would say you have 1/2 of the horn visible and a distinct date, which would put it at VG-8.

I'm going to return it.

Thanks for your comments.
Something told me to save the item he/she wrapped the coin with.
