The surfaces don't look right, the details have a slightly mushy aspect to them, and the FMV is more than twice the asking price of this coin. These seem like red flags, but the seller seems to have much genuine stuff and 100% positive feedback.

My standard answer: For that much money I need the coin to be slabbed.

I suspect it is real, possibly with some environmental problems. It's a B-4 variety.

If fake, it's a very good die transfer copy of BB-254.

I agree with kanga, or at least a pic of the reverse

Although my knowledge of this series is very limited, I think that it is an authentic coin that has some issues.

Heritage might have a few you could study in their archives. You could always buy it, and get it graded, and if it's not problem-free, return it.

There seems to be a consensus that this is a real coin, just one with problems. Seems like a good price, but if the authenticity is doubted at all, it is best to stay away and not get stuck in anything. I can wait as $1500 on a coin is FAR too much I need to be spending on a coin right now. I was just surfing and thought this one looked...'off.'

Looks like a genuine-fine details damaged coin worth about $900. Lots of scattered marks all of the Bust of Lierty and a rim scrape on the reverse.

Wow, this has been an educational read. When I clicked on the link this morning, I really thought it was not authentic. Thanks for including your details on its authenticity.

I just wouldn't buy it. I don't like the way it looks.
