Hello from Sweden

I bought this brosch today at a fleamarket and would like some info and maybe if it has any value, I think it is in gold.
I tried to remove the coin with no success, scratched it a little bit.

Thx take care.

That is not a US coin and it is almost certainly not a coin from any other country either.

I agree, it looks like some sort of token or medal.

It is not in the World gold coins Catalog from 1601-present 6th edition.

1803 was the Louisiana purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Can't help to think it was a commemorative to one of those, somehow.

I would be surprised if it was gold though. More likely just a heavy gold plating.

I'm interested in seeing the reverse of the token - my dremel would do the job!

It seems to be a mass-produced insert for costume jewelry. Here's one in a keychain:

They seem to be molded/punched from thin metal. Here's the reverse of one taken out of its setting:

Looking at these, viking's does appear to be coated with something gold-colored.

I sincerely doubt it is gold. I would leave it alone and chalk it up to experience as you will likely damage both parts by separating them.

Best Regards,
