Oh wow, are those all die cracks/breaks running through lettering on both the obverse and reverse?

Yes, those are all die cracks. Interesting and pleasing coin to look at. Best I can figure is that it's somewhere between VAM 5A and 5B. I believe it would be classified as a 5A due to the lack of multiple clash marks. Edited by chasingtailbar

I'm thinking it's a VAM 5B based on the die crack progression and the die cip on the first 8. Either the clash marks wore away or the dies were freshened slightly (best guess). I'm in at 64 with an outside shot at 65 on Friday afternoon.  |

I forgot to add my thoughts; I wouldn't be surprised to see it get a 65 given the composition of the submission (which can have an effect) but I think it's a 64+. I don't think it was polished up to remove the clashes, there are no really distinguishable die polish lines, and there is one clash visible, not the multiple clashes of the VAMWorld plate coin. Hence my assessment of it being a tweener. |

I see the die crack at the back of the cap which according to description is the break point of 5A to 5B.

R6 was Leroy's best guess at the time of discovery (2005). That said, one thing of note is that VAM 6 and 7 were discoveries back in the 70's that were just recently consumed into VAM 5 so the population reports are probably a bit skewed. One of my 83 CC's I have tagged as a VAM 7 and that was just last year. It will take some time and a quite a bit of effort by one or some of the VAMworld members to sort this out. |

MS-64 here too, there are very few bag marks but those that are there aren't the lightest.
