I was looking at my grandparents coin collection that they received from their parents. I found this Morgan. Is it worth anything or just a cool family heirloom.
Hopefully the photos are okay as they are from my phone, if not I will try and download new photos later.

This specific mint and date really shoots up in price at MS60. Going by the PCGS pictures yours looks AU to MS so I'm really interested in seeing what other posters say (as I'm not not an expert on grading these). This could be great.

Go ahead and post the other one if it's the same date and mint, make another thread.

Also yeah, do try to take more pictures if you can.

Seeing what kman said, are you sure they're Os? There doesn't appear to be a mintmark on this coin.

Looks like it could be about MS63 and appears to be a VAM6B http://www.vamworld.com/1886-P+VAM-6B

A common issue, but not much chatter showing up on these photos, might make MS64 on that basis. I am wondering what's the cause of the black marks on the reverse.

I have no idea it was on a couple of coins. They were just loose in a garbage bag with a lot of other coins.

Looks more like a 58. Nice coin, worth a little premium, but nothing too nuts. Maybe $35 or so.

The black areas might then be indicative of a reaction with PVC. However, do not attempt to remove these on your own, you will likely damage the coin unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Your reference to coin tracker was the first time I have seen this site. I only checked a 1878 cc Morgan in "perfect" condition and they had it at $1,600 so I wouldn't use this site to much. Need to look into it further. One of the best ways to see what a coin is WORTH is to check ebay completed sales, so you will know what they are actually selling for. All these sites including PCGS and NGC price guides are just to give a ball park figures.
