I listed this item # 171400223403. On 7/25 it was on the first page of Beas as an add. It said $60.00 which I thought was a bid. When I saw buy it now I instantly bought it. I now relisted it at $60.00 starting bid with $10.00 shipping. You can see I already have an opening bid and a watcher. The bid was within an hour so I guess I can't loose. Anyone want to guess for fun where it will go.

I wonder about people who charge high shipping as well. Why $10.00 for economy shipping?

Probably insurance, how much is it to insure this coin? You have to remember ebay and Paypal fees if it sells for the first bid which often coins with high starting bids do.

I usually do free shipping but being my first auction I don't know what it will sell for. I like to send flat rate box with ins. I'm not sure how they treat the bubble wrap envelopes but regular ones go through a roller I think and don't want to take the chance. I always put the change in the pkg if there is any

60$ to $70. 10$ shipping is a huge turnoff. Buyers factor S&H charges into their bids. If someone was considering a 70$ bid (and see that $10 S&H) they back their bid back to 60$. 80$ is scaled back to 70$. You can ship that coin in a padded mailer with Delivery Confirmation for $1.93 and be reasonably protected for loss. If you are bent on having it insured add in another two or three dollars (insurance is a waste of money IF you are willing to assume some of the risk). I self insured a long time ago after I tallied up what I was paying the post office vs the loss history I experienced ..... Believe me the post office was way ahead! It's a lot easier to stomach 3$ shipping than it is to stomach 10$ shipping. As it looks now (to a Buyer) is that you are trying to cover 100% of you eBay/Paypal costs (listing/final value fees, P&H, PP Fee) with a 10$ shipping charge. You may not being doing that but that's the way a Buyer sees it. I can assure you that you will eventually get nailed for high shipping costs on your DSRs. ebay has designed the system to punish a Seller with shipping costs that are way out of line.

Good move. You'll see more bidding activity with free or reasonable shipping costs. I change my estimate from 60-70$ to 80-100$. Hope it does well for you.

you cannot actually insure shipments of money or bullion in most cases, so the discussion about insurance is a moot point.
