Does this appear to be dipped? not really sure what dipped Lincoln proofs look like. I know greatsoutherncoin is known to purchase slabbed coins graded as cleaned (but not always) and break open the coin and sell it. if the coin has been dipped, how soon does it start to develop issues? thank you!

I don't know if it is dipped, but the spotting looks really odd. Could just be milk spots and they look weird from the lighting/white balance, but I kinda doubt that. I would stay away from this coin. The whole presentation just makes it look odd.

Given the seller involved I would say carbon spots combined with a Photoshopped / lighting altered image.

I did buy one coin from them even after I knew about their reputation but only because it was slabbed.

I am not sure if it is dipped but given the blue spotting, I wouldn't trust it to have problem free surfaces. If I have it correctly, I think a dipped coin can begin to develop problems almost as soon as it is removed from the dip especially if it hasn't been rinsed properly and the environmental conditions are right. Problems will pop up on copper faster than silver or gold.

Probably not, just typical of that seller's oversaturated photography. It is kinda reminiscent of the stomach-turning orange you get when copper meets thiourea, though.

Yea good info all around.

I have purchased maybe 4-6 items off this dealer on ebay. Not worried as I only bought low cost items that looked great (mercs for 4 - 6 bucks, walkers for 18 - 25).

Will have to pull some of them out and see if they look as nice as they did when I received them.

This seller was selling his items at 99 cent start price with free shipping until 2-4 weeks ago. Now they are all 9.95 to start.

Back at 99 cents, you could bid a nice FSB Mercury dime up to the 4 - 6 dollar range early in its listing and then it wouldn't be found by as many people and you would get it for maybe 6 - 7 bucks. Now at 9.95 many aren't bid at all till the last minute.

Nothing special, but I was happy with my coins and this seller.

Not knowledgeable enough to know if these are cleaned / dipped, but I am sure I will figure it out if I hang out here more.

IMHO, not sure if dipped or not, but wouldn't touch a raw coin from GSC with a 10' pole. Even their slabbed coin "seem" to have shill bidders.

Looks fine, it's their crappy, manipulated pictures that suck. This seller has been discussed many times on this forum.

Not dipped. Simply has carbon spots. I have several pennies that have the same thing going on.
