Like a lot of 2006 ASE owners, I found some spotting on the back of the coin. I bought it with the spotting (unannounced to me). Well this was back in June, possibly July and I noticed that the spotting has nearly disappeared. I only see one or two small marks on the coin. Has anyone heard of this happening? I don't have any before pictures of it, but I'm going to take some pictures tonight or tomorrow. All I could think of is that possibly different areas affected it?

I've heard plenty of stories about the spots, but this is the first time I heard about them disappearing.

Hmm, sounds like the 'milk spots' are organic in nature and died after sustenance was gone. I'd like to know exactly what the mint rinsed these spotted coins in. What type of solution, was it a sugary solution, etc...

I never heard of a situation where spots disappear unless they toned over or were not really spots on the coin in the first place.

Try tilting the coin in various angles in the light, sometimes you'll see something you didn't or did notice before.

I tilted them under some good light, and the reverse is nearly spotless, except for two small spots near the rim. The obverse still has some, but they've gotten smaller and much harder to see. Before, they were noticeable almost as soon as you saw them. I don't have the camera right now, but I'll post some pictures up later. The coin hasn't toned or anything, and is still in the original container that the mint gave them in and that container was never opened.

Does this mean that you will be offering a "spot" removal service soon?

Congrats, Amazon! Consider yourself lucky. You can have any that I end up with milk spots, too, and I'll pay for that removal service!
