i want to collect 25 sets of presidential gold dollars, so I need to get rolls of the coins. my question is are the rolls you buy from the mint going to be in better condition than the uncirulated ones you would get from your bank when their first released?

Exact same thing.....if you can find them at a bank. I only found ONE bank that had rolls. And the price is a helluv a lot better from a bank. LOL

The ONLY difference between the Mint roll and the roll you get at your bank is the paper wrapper (an an extra $10 cost). They all go to the same company in Ballistic Bags and are run through the same machines. It just depends on what paper they load the machines with.

If you are unrolling them the paper doesn't matter.

If you're like me it may be hard to get both mint marks however.

Don't buy the 100 coin boxes from the mint. I got a box of quarters and they looked like someone played tambourine with the box. Circulated coins looked better. So get rolls that are bank wrapped from your area. The other mint you will probably have to buy unless you can find someone that will trade with you.

Just remember, its not the wrapper that matters, its whats inside that counts.

I have a roll of Jefferson's that the paper is busted on one side. I can only assume the roll was dropped. It's still intact but there is a tear half way down one side. Will I be able to trade a roll like that or will I have to just open it and trade them loose?
