I'm wavering between F15 and VF20. Love this No Stars issue.

However, a very good candidate for VF-20.

I think this is the small date based on the shape of the 1.

Love this No Stars issue.

Me too. I've been looking for one of these myself. This is the way that Gobrecht intended the design to be.

It was meant to look naked.

This is a link to the Liberty Seated Collectors Club:

http://www.lsccweb.org/

I had the opportunity to sit in on the inaugural LSCC/BCCS kick-off co-meeting* at the Manchester Coin Show back in 2011.
The "large/small' date 1837 was discussed. I came away with the information that the SIZE of the '1' is not at issue.
Rather, the 'shape' of the initial stroke was the key: - or / .

Is that your understanding, MeadowviewCollector?

I bought my example that day and later bought an 1838 with stars for comparison.
Boy, Half Dimes are TINY!

Yes, I didn't do a very good job of clarifying that. Here's a PCGS showing the difference http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/D...4311?redir=t
