Hi all, I recently took the time sort sort my 18 year accumulation of Memorial cents. I thought perhaps these numbers may be of some interest to those who study the series. I have been out of the loop for more than a few years, but I thought I remembered something about an online study trying to estimate survival rates before I went on hiatus.

Anyhow, here we go with the results from 18 years of hoarding every LMC that came through my hands during normal commerce here in north-central Indiana, along with a few purchased accumulations from family/friends before they cashed them in at the banks.

So when I see 2008-D 2.94, does that mean you have found 294 of them in total?

If th above is correct, it is interesting that you have found so many more D mints than P. I was going to comment you must be from the west coast until I saw Indiana. That's not that far from me (SW Ohio) and I see way more P's than D's typically.

You are correct on your assumption. Looking back, I should have used a $ to avoid confusion. I too am surprised by the numbers of D mint vs. Philly. All the better to search for rpm's though!

OK, 9 years between posts is kinda epic.

I was struck by the disparity between Large and Small Dates for 1960-D, considering they were supposed to have been minted in similar numbers.

Indeed. It approaches 1/jbuck.

Or something.

That's a pretty good idea! I think I might start saving mine. They probably won't ever be worth much, but in a mass quantity maybe something. Once they start getting taken out, they'll really be gone. Only a dollar to keep 100 of them... definitely worth a try! At least keeping the lightly circulated ones.

Very cool! Out of curiosity, did you keep track of any varieties you found? With nearly $100 face in the WAM years, I assume you found at least half a dozen?

Also, I noticed a similar trend with the 1960-D SD. They might not be rare enough to fetch a premium, but they are certainly not common in circulation.

I'm more struck by the fact that you're sorting through 84,069 lincolns.... Might be another 9 years before we see the next post!

On a side note, I'm most envious of the task before you

Lots of factors. When the economy started to crumble, so did my discretionary spending. Grandkids came along. Found different hobbies that hooked me. But I am back!

Posting my finds in the "Coin Roll Hunting" forum. Went through the 2000's last night and found 11 WAM's.

Actually only took about 2 months, 2-3 hrs/day. An hour here, an hour there. Too cold to get outside.... Now to enjoy the fruits of my labor by searching through some of them before spring!

Naturally those results could vary massively due to area where you live or found them. By me all are usually just in the early teens such as all 1914D's. Or don't I wish.

Reminded me of an old tagline I once used...
